Generation Europe Foundation is an NGO that produces information tools for young people in the EU. We are producing our fourth edition of the Europa Diary and its teacher's guide in 30 different editions targeted at 15-18 year olds in all EU Member States. More than two million copies were distributed in 2007 with the support of the European Commission.

Job description: Translation

1. Page strips - quotes/jokes found at the bottom of diary pages. (c. 3000 words)
2. An A 5 brochure (c. 1400 words)
3. 100 A 5 pages of editorial (c. 500 words/page)
4. The teacher's manual (c. 10,000 words)
5. The press kit (c. 1400 words)
6. Texts for the website (c. 2000 words)
7. Five letters to teachers (each 450 words) (November, February, March, May, July)

All texts will be sent to you (via email) in English throughout September 2007 - February 2008 and should be returned within 7 days of receipt.

The deadlines are extremely important; if you do not feel you will have the time to meet them, please do not apply for this assignment.

The candidate should:

• Have a proven track record in translation from English and ideally hold a university degree;
• Be able to write in a style that is appropriate for 15-18 year-olds: lively, funny, to-the-point, and not patronizing;
• Have a basic knowledge in: European affairs, environment, consumer and health issues;
• Be available between October 2007 - March 2008 (and May and July: see point 7)
• Be a perfectionist, flexible and able to respect deadlines

Conditions:

Your name will be mentioned in all editions in all languages (27 but possibly 30 editions)

The flat fee is 2,000€ for the work. Payment will be as follows:

• 30% upon signature of agreement
• 70% within 15 days at the end of work
